Gunners’ City Ground hoodoo could continue

Arsenal were 2-1 winners over Forest on the opening day of the season, but have struggled for positive results at the City Ground in recent years.

The Gunners have lost on each of their last three visits, two in the FA Cup, while Taiwo Awoniyi’s winner last season officially ended their title bid, having squandered an eight-point lead over eventual champions Manchester City.

A convincing 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace at the weekend ensured Mikel Arteta’s men remain in this season’s title race but they face a tough test against a Forest side galvanised by new boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

The former Wolves and Tottenham manager has taken them on an encouraging run that has included just one defeat in their last six matches, not to mention confidence-boosting victories against Newcastle United and Manchester United.

They did, though, lose their last league outing, a narrow 3-2 reverse against Brentford, to leave them hovering precariously above the bottom three.

While victory against Arsenal may be a bridge too far, a point could well be on the cards for Espirito Santo’s men.

Goals likely at both ends

Aside from the goalless draw at Bristol City on Friday, Forest have found their scoring boots under Espirito Santo, registering at least two goals in each of their last four league games.

However, they are yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League under their new manager and may struggle to alter that statistic against the fifth-highest scorers in the league.

Arsenal, too, have struggled to keep the ball out of their own net, Saturday’s rout of Palace being their first clean sheet in five attempts. Four of their last five games on the road have seen both teams score and a repeat of this is expected on Tuesday.

Shoot on sight the message for both

Injuries to a number of attacking players, including first-choice centre-forward Awoniyi, has opened the door for Chris Wood and he has grabbed the opportunity with both hands, scoring eight league goals.

Fifty-seven per cent of Wood’s shots this season have hit the target, the best ratio of any member of Forest’s squad to have taken more than 10 shots, so expect the New Zealand international to test the goalkeeper once more.

Arsenal boast a wealth of attacking threats, notably their leading scorer this season Bukayo Saka. The 22-year-old has taken 49 shots this season, 11 more than anyone else in the Arsenal squad, and will be keen to add to his tally of six goals for the campaign so far.

Five cards were shown in this fixture last season and it could be another busy evening for the officials, with Forest midfielder Ryan Yates among those likely to end up in the book.

Yates has committed 31 fouls so far this season, more than any other Forest player.

Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal tip 3: Bet Builder - Chris Wood 1+ shots on target, Bukayo Saka 3+ total shots and Ryan Yates to commit 2+ fouls @ 10/3 with Sky Bet
