NRL star Owen Craigie put $2MILLION through the pokies

Owen Craigie retired from rugby league at 26 after putting $2 million through poker machines. He had a marriage breakdown and a battle with mental health. Matthew Johns called him and turned his life around. Craig played for Newcastle at 17 and in 1997 he scored 12 tries in their premiership-winning season.

Owen Craigie was addicted to gambling. He won a premiership with Newcastle Knights in 1997. Craig played for the Tigers and Rabbitohs before retiring at 26. Matthew Johns helped him to break free from his addiction. He is now a gambling counsellor. His sister died and he was depressed. Kurt Gidley called him. They went to a rehab centre. The centre was run by the Men of League foundation. It was a success. Now he is a coach. In 2020 he will give a talk. he wants to help others. to overcome their addictions.
