Odds to win the Premier League: Arsenal close the gap after beating Manchester City

Inside The Star

The Premier League heads back into the international break, and Manchester City remains favoured to defend their title despite losing back-to-back games.

The latest: City's odds have lengthened after their loss to Arsenal at the Emirates. Still, they're the odds-on favourite as of Oct. 10. Tottenham and Arsenal remain unbeaten through seven games, and both are strong picks to win the title.

Here are the latest Premier League odds for the 2023/24 season.

Best Premier League odds

Man City established themselves as the best team in Europe last season.

Pep Guardiola's side won the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League, locking down a treble for the first time in club history.

The team cruised through the first six games this EPL season, winning by a combined score of 16-3. Then, they dropped two consecutive road games.

Their most recent 1-0 loss to Arsenal is understandable, but the one prior — a 2-1 defeat to bottom-feeding Wolverhampton — makes less sense.

But every team is going to drop points and City is almost certainly going to pick themselves back up off the mat soon. Doing so without Kevin de Bruyne may prove to be a little difficult, though.

Erling Haaland scored a record-breaking 36 goals last season and he's already potted eight through eight games this time around. Jack Grealish remains elite and Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez have stepped up big time so far.

Other Premier League choices

Tottenham were a mess last season but they finally have a sense of direction under new manager Ange Postecoglou.

The Spurs sold Harry Kane to Bayern Munich for a massive fee before Matchday 1 but remain unbeaten despite losing their all-time leading goalscorer. Heung-min Son has picked up plenty of slack with six goals in eight games.

Tottenham beat Luton Town down a man on Matchday 8 and now sit at 6-2-0, atop the table. They've scored at least two goals in all but one game.

The team was a +5,000 long shot to win the EPL before the season and those odds have been cut down considerably since then. Tottenham will have a serious rest advantage over other contenders as the club has no European football in sight.

Last year, Arsenal's season ended on a bad note for the second time in as many years.

The Gunners dropped out of the final Champions League spot due to a poor run of form down the stretch of the 2022-23 season, and last year they effectively threw away the Premiership by only winning three of their final nine games (3-3-3).

But the team has looked sharp so far, with six wins and two draws in its first seven games, including their massive 1-0 win over Manchester City at home.

Bukayo Saka is off to a hot start with four goals and Declan Rice has been a great addition to an already strong midfield. Arsenal's best asset might be it's defence, though. The team's six goals allowed are tied for the fewest in the EPL.
