Orioles Conclude MLB Draft with Some Intrigue and Risk

The 2022 MLB Draft ended Tuesday with rounds 11 to 20. Baltimore Orioles made ten picks. The team with the worst record last season picked first at the beginning of each round. MLB Pipeline gave them the third-best haul of any team. Two players in Pipeline's Top 250 prospects are tough to sign.

MLB Pipeline gave them the third-best haul of any team. Two players drafted are in Pipeline's Top 250 prospects. Two of them will be tough to sign. It's hoped someone will become a prospect of note in the coming years.

Zack Showalter is a high school pitcher who is committed to South Florida. He had a 0.78 ERA this spring with high strikeout and walk rates.

Bradley Brehmer, a pitcher, will sign for less than the late-round maximum without affecting the bonus pool. BreHmer pitched to a 5.30 ERA with high strikeout and walk rates in his one year with the Hoosiers after transferring from Wright State.

Orioles drafted a pitcher Jared Beck, who is seven feet tall and plays basketball in high school. Beck has high strikeout and walk rates and is a Division Two player.

Adam Retzbach was the only player selected on the day. He plays first base and left field, but he will play catcher for Lehigh.

James Hicks Jr. is a pitcher from South Carolina. He had Tommy John surgery and only played in two games this year. Hicks transferred from Crowder College.

Firoved was drafted by the Orioles. He was the only player drafted in the 20th century. Firoves has played for three different schools, including Northwest Florida State, Radford and Virginia Tech.

Orioles have drafted Carter Young, a switch hitter who hit .207. He is a good player who plays good defense and runs well.

Orioles made two picks in the MLB draft. They chose Andrew Walters, a pitcher from Miami. He has a well above-average fastball, but he throws it over 90% of the time.

Orioles have drafted Alden Mathes, an outfielder from Richmond. Mathe has also played second base and pitched.

Orioles drafted Reese Sharp, a pitcher from Indiana, in the final round. Three Maryland players were drafted on Day Three. Royals took Ryan Ramsey in 13th round, Phillies drafted Troy Schreffler Jr. in 15th and Chris Alleyne in 19th.
