Orioles vs Rays: Prediction, Odds, & Best Bets (July 23)

We have a huge AL East showdown as the top two teams in the division and the American League face off this afternoon. Today will be the final game of a three game series down in Tampa Bay, and the Rays need a win tonight to even up the series against the Orioles.

Let’s take a look at today’s game and the season series as a whole.

Orioles vs Rays Season Series

With their win last night, the Orioles overtook the Rays for 1st place in the AL East, this year’s gauntlet of baseball.

Baltimore is just one game ahead of Tampa Bay, but there is still plenty of time for that to change before the playoffs roll around.

As far as the rest of the division, the Orioles and Rays are a head above the rest.

The Toronto Blue Jays sit in 3rd at 6.5 games behind the leading O’s. The Red Sox and Yankees are both 8.5 games out of first place.

At this point, this is the Orioles and Rays’ division to lose.

Prior to this series, these rivals had faced off in five games this season. The Orioles won two out of three in Baltimore back in early May, but the teams split two games in Tampa Bay in late June.

After the Orioles took two of the first three in this series, they lead the overall season series against the Rays 5-3.

Can Tampa Bay get one back this afternoon? Or will the Orioles start to put some distance between them and the Rays in the AL East?

Orioles vs Rays Prediction & Best Bets

Baltimore is currently 30-18 on the road this season, an extremely good away record. But, they face the Rays who are arguably one of the best home teams in the MLB as they sit at 36-17 at Tropicana Field.

Tyler Wells is coming off his worst start of the season, and his splits are much better at home anyways. On the road against these Rays’ bats, I think Wells might be in for a long day today.

The Pick: Rays -1.5 (+150) BetOnline

Player Props

Brandon Lowe over 0.5 Hit (-145) Bovada

At this point, you guys should know the drill, so go ahead and say it with me.

“Pay the Juice Man!”

Don’t be afraid, he will make it worth your while.

Lowe gets a hit in 53% of games and 56% of games at Tropicana Field. He’s had a hit in 20 of his L30 games, as well as 6 of his L10, and 4 of his L5.

Lowe is a lefty who bats .212 against opposing right-handed pitchers, while Wells allowed lefties to hit right around .215.

Wells is coming off his worst start of the season, and today he is on the road. I think his confidence will be low, and this guy should have no trouble knocking a base.

Lowe hits .333 against Wells, going 2/6 with with a single and a home run in six plate appearances.

Lowe finally got his first hits of the season against the Orioles the past two games, I like him to keep that streak going for this price today.
