Padres vs. Phillies prediction, pick: Roll with the underdog

Hollywood actors are on strike, but the San Diego Padres are still acting as if they are contenders in the NL wild-card race.

They were 4 ¹/₂ games back of the Phillies prior to Saturday’s double dip at Philly.

San Diego has the horses, but we have been calling them the “Mets West” all year and for good reason.

Seth Lugo, who pitches Sunday, has allowed just one run over his last 12 innings, with a strikeout-walk rate at 12-1.

The Phillies’ Zack Wheeler hasn’t lost since May 22, but the Wheels are constantly falling off Zack’s cart.

He has allowed 12 runs over his past 16 ¹/₃ innings.

San Diego is an attractive road dog.

$50 on the Padres.

Sabado Gigante! Alex Cobb gave up one run over six innings.

With the score tied 1-1, Michael Conforto’s eighth-inning single proved to be the winning blow as the Giants beat the Pirates, 3-1. Down -1,049 angelpagans.
