Panthers vs. Maple Leafs prop bets, Game 1: Pick Rielly to score a point

Toronto Maple Leafs fans have waited a long time for this, but their team is finally in action for Round 2 of the NHL playoffs.

The pregame narrative: Sam Bennett was an offensive menace for the Florida Panthers in Round 1 and that should carry into Round 2. Morgan Rielly is taking his game to new heights, making him a quality choice to get on the board. Thirdly, we’re fading a struggling Calle Jarnkrok.

Panthers vs. Maple Leafs prop bets

Best Bet: Bennett to score 1+ point (-117)

Bennett’s reinsertion to the lineup was a big reason why Florida was able to come back against the Boston Bruins.

The tenacious forward made his presence felt both physically and offensively, delivering 25 hits and five points for the Panthers across the six games he played in the series.

The latter is obviously what we’re most interested in for this wager. Bennett was able to generate plenty of excellent chances against the Bruins, placing second on his team in expected goals (3.33), scoring chances (23) and high-danger chances (13) per Natural Stat Trick.

Opportunity isn’t an issue for him, either, as he plays on Florida’s second line and first power-play unit. Expect Bennett to be a threat on offence.

Key stat: Bennett has at least one point in six of his last seven games.

Quick picks

Rielly to score 1+ point (-136): Rielly is one of several Toronto players who are elevating their game in the postseason. The rearguard is producing offensively, tallying eight points in Round 1 against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

In fact, all of Rielly’s points have come in his last five games, notching at least one in each contest. Impressively, only one of his eight points came on the man advantage against the Bolts. That number should rise against a Florida penalty kill clicking at an abysmal 59.3% during the playoffs.

Jarnkrok to not score 1+ point (-121): One of the few Maple Leafs players struggling offensively is Jarnkrok. Despite mostly playing on the first line alongside Auston Matthews in Round 1, the Swedish forward only delivered five shots and two points.

He failed to register a point in four of six games and is now skating on line two. Without any exposure to the top power play unit, either, we’re totally fine with fading Jarnrkok.
