Pelicans vs. Lakers NBA Player Props, Odds: Picks and Predictions for Friday

The New Orleans Pelicans look to stay hot Friday against the Los Angeles Lakers, and we’re offering our favorite Pelicans vs. Lakers player props based on the best NBA odds.

Entering Friday, the New Orleans have won four straight games ahead of their late-week tilt with the Los Angeles Lakers. They'll try to keep that going even with Zion Williamson an Jonas Valanciunas uncertain to play in this NBA nightcap, which tips off at 10:30 p.m.

The Lakers can’t be complaining about taking on a New Orleans squad that’s potentially down two starters as L.A. tries to rise in the playoff race. LeBron James and Co. sit ninth in the West, 2.5 games back of the Dallas Mavericks for the eighth seed, and they've been all over the map in 2023-24. With D’Angelo Russell a game-time decision after missing the Lakers' loss to the Denver Nuggets, and both James and Anthony Davis questionable, there’s plenty of mystery in the air over who will be taking the court.

Regardless, Willie Green has New Orleans playing some of its best basketball lately. The team's 3-point shooting ability should be able to expose a Lakers defense that hasn’t been overly inspiring during 2023-24.

With or without Williamson and Valanciunas, the Pelicans boast the offensive talent to push this Lakers lineup. With our best sports betting sites offering few player props in this matchup, we'll find our value in some of the second-fiddle scoring options set to play.

To complement our NBA best bets for Friday, here are our best Pelicans vs. Lakers NBA player props and NBA picks (odds via our best NBA betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Pelicans vs. Lakers props

Brandon Ingram Over 1.5 threes made (+100 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

DraftKings is offering up to a 100% boost for one NBA parlay or SGP. Don't forget to use our DraftKings promo code! Offer excludes Ontario.

Brandon Ingram will be expected to carry the offensive load for the Pelicans if Williamson is out. The All-Star is on pace to average over 21 points per game for the fifth straight season in New Orleans, and he's been playing some of his best basketball over the last 10 games.

Ingram is averaging 22.8 points per game during those outings, and he hasn’t been afraid to pull up from beyond the arc. He’s shooting 36.6% from three and hitting 1.4 of those shots on four attempts per game in 2023-24. However, his attempts have jumped up to 4.8 per contest over his last 10 games, and he’s making 2.1 threes per appearance (43.7%).

This is also a Lakers team that’s been struggling to defend the three in 2023-24. L.A. is allowing opponents to shoot 37.4% from three, which ranks 11th worst in the NBA, and teams are averaging 14.2 threes made per game against the Lakers, the league's third-highest mark.

Darvin Ham’s defense has especially been struggling against guards. Not only is L.A. giving up the fifth most points to shooting guards, but its 3.5 threes allowed to the position is the league's eighth most.

CJ McCollum Over 26.5 points and rebounds (-110 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐

As New Orleans prepares to make its playoff push in the second half of the season, CJ McCollum will need to be an integral part of the club's offense.

While he's averaging just 19.4 points per game in 2023-24, his lowest rate since McCollum's second season with the Portland Trailblazers, the veteran is shooting a career-high 43.7% from deep and averaging 4.4 rebounds per game, tied for his career high.

McCollum has also been taking on a larger offensive role in recent games. He's averaging 21.2 points per game and 5.5 rebounds over the Pelicans' four-game winning streak. The 32-year-old has been a dynamo from deep, hitting 17 threes over those four games and shooting 44.7% from behind the arc.

This matchup against the Lakers plays well to McCollum’s strengths with the Lakers' perimeter defense struggling. He’s in position to expose the Lakers, who are allowing the fourth-most threes per game this season to point guards (3.38). As for the rebounds, the Lakers are allowing the eighth most rebounds per game to point guards in 2023-24 (6.5).

Anthony Davis Under 26.5 points (-122 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐

FanDuel is offering a 25% boost for a three-plus leg NBA SGP. Make sure to use our FanDuel promo code!

Assuming Anthony Davis takes the court, he’ll get a tough matchup against this New Orleans Pelicans defense, especially if Williamson and Valanciunas play. Davis, who's heading to his ninth All-Star Game this season, is averaging 24.8 points per game. But he's been inconsistent throughout the season.

While he's coming off 32- and 26-point performances, Davis has been struggling against tougher defenses while recording under 27 points in seven of his last nine games. The Pelicans' defense ranks ninth in the NBA in points allowed per game at 112.5, the team has been bringing some of its best against big men.

The Pels are allowing just 22.2 points per game to centers and 22.08 points per game to power forwards in 2023-24. Davis finished with just 20 and 16 points during the previous two matchups between these teams.
