Pistons vs Wizards Prediction

The Detroit Pistons and the Washington Wizards duke it out at the Capital One Arena on Tuesday night.

The Detroit Pistons have been in terrible form as they’ve lost 14 of their last 16 games overall, but they will be eager to build some momentum in this one after snapping an 11-game slide with a 117-97 win over the Pacers last night. Cory Joseph led the team with 22 points and five assists off the bench, James Wiseman and Rodney McGruder each scored 18 points while Killian Hayes tallied 10 points with 11 assists. As a team, the Pistons shot 48 percent from the field and 14 of 36 from the 3-point line as they stormed out of the gates with 38 points in the first quarter to take an early double-digit lead, before they held the Pacers to just 19 points in the third quarter to lead by as many as 31 points.

Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last six games and they will be hoping to avoid a fourth straight defeat after getting routed by the 76ers in a 112-93 road loss on Sunday. Corey Kispert led the team with 25 points on nine of 13 shooting, Bradley Beal added 13 points while Kyle Kuzma chipped in with 12 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Wizards shot 40 percent from the field and six of 26 from the 3-point line as they got off to a poor start and scored just 19 points in the first quarter to fall behind right away and things only got worse in the second half where they got outscored by 57-43 as they just had no answer for the 76ers’ Joel Embiid who torched them for 34 points.

Looking at the betting trends, the Pistons are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games playing on zero days rest and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Wizards are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games against a team with a losing record, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team below .400 and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall.

Head to head, the under is 15-5-2 in the last 22 meetings in Washington and the Pistons are 1-8 ATS in the last nine meetings in Washington.

The Pistons are shorthanded once again as Isaiah Stewart, Alec Burks, Bojan Bogdanovic and Marvin Bagley are all out, while the Wizards are still without Taj Gibson. The Pistons were the coldest team in the league before they sprung a major upset against the Pacers last night, but I’m not going to overreact as the Pistons were on an 11-game losing streak before last night. The Wizards are still struggling for form despite being almost at full health but this seems like the perfect spot to get their season back on the track. You couldn’t back either team with much confidence these days, but I’ll lean towards the Wizards in this spot.
