Predicting Grayson Allen's 2023-24 NBA season stats for the Bucks

Barring a trade, Grayson Allen is about to enter a crucial third year with the Milwaukee Bucks.

While the guard has played some of the best basketball of his career since coming over to the Bucks in a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies, he’s had plenty of ups and downs along the way. Many fans have just given up on Allen and believe he cannot be a key cog on a contender in this day and age. Due to this, he’s one of the Bucks with the most to prove this coming NBA season.

Predicting Grayson Allen’s 2023-24 NBA season stats for the Bucks

2023-24 Prediction: 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 44.5 percent field goal shooting, 41.2 percent 3-point shooting, 89.6 percent free throw shooting, 0.9 steals, 0.2 blocks, 26.2 minutes.

Like newcomer Malik Beasley, Allen’s stats are a bit hard to predict, as it’s unclear whether or not he will start or come off of the bench. For continuity purposes, let us assume Allen starts 2023-24 as the team’s starting shooting guard. With all of that said, it will be interesting to see how Allen is utilized when he is on the court.

Above all else, he will be tasked with providing outside shooting. Over the past two seasons, Allen hit 40.9 and 39.9 percent of his 3-pointers. He should provide excellent marksmanship once again this coming season, but perhaps he could do it at the most efficient rate of his young NBA career at 41.2 percent. That would be a major boost for the Bucks on the perimeter.

Another area offensively that Allen could take a leap in is his facilitating. The guard saw more duty as a ball-handler last season and averaged a career-high 2.3 assists per game. Without a backup point guard on the roster, Milwaukee could very well turn to Allen once again to handle the ball in certain lineups. That could lead to Allen becoming more of a passer and averaging 2.7 assists.

10.3 points and 26.2 minutes per game would both be the fewest of Allen’s career with the Bucks, but it’s for a good reason here. Under Adrian Griffin, it would not be surprising if young players like MarJon Beauchamp and Andre Jackson Jr. saw meaningful minutes due to their defensive prowess and other attributes. That could bump Allen’s minutes down a tick in the wing rotation.

In short, Allen should have a solid season for the Milwaukee Bucks. Of course, the big test will be the NBA Playoffs, but he will be more than motivated to prove his doubters wrong. This will be a huge season with plenty on the line for Grayson Allen.
