Predicting Jae Crowder's stat line for the Bucks in 2023-24 NBA season

The 2022-23 NBA season was certainly an odd one for Jae Crowder, who eventually landed with the Milwaukee Bucks at the trade deadline.

Crowder, who had not played at all that season before being acquired by Milwaukee, appeared in just 22 total games and saw a minimal role. Many thought that the veteran would take his talents elsewhere after barely playing down the stretch, but with a new coaching regime in town, Crowder seemingly believed he had a chance to wipe the slate clean, and he inked a one-year prove it deal.

Now, the veteran will aim to put last season’s effort to shame as he helps the Milwaukee Bucks in their quest to hang another championship banner.

Predicting Jae Crowder’s stat line for the Bucks in 2023-24 NBA season

2022-23 stats: 6.9 points, 3.8 boards, 1.5 assists, 47.9 percent field goal shooting, 43.6 percent 3-point shooting, 83.3 percent free throw shooting, 0.7 steals, 0.3 blocks, 18.9 minutes per game.

2023-24 prediction: 9.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 42.6 percent field goal shooting, 38.7 percent 3-point shooting, 79.5 percent free throw shooting, 0.8 steals, 0.4 blocks, 25.6 minutes per game.

Crowder should be much better for the Bucks next season than he was last year. With a legitimate off-season under his belt and more chemistry with his new teammates, he should gel much more smoothly. Coach Adrian Griffin is a defense-first coach, so he’ll likely aim to utilize Crowder quite a bit next season as a big wing defender. Playing 25.6 minutes per game is not a small role.

When he’s on the court, Crowder will be tasked with playing tough defense while knocking down triples on the other end. Due to the spacing created by Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday, and others, he should get no shortage of open looks on offense. Crowder has shot above 35 percent from deep three times in his NBA career, and next year could very well be the fourth.

In short, Crowder should be a major contributor for the Bucks next season. If he impresses during training camp, he could very well even be the team’s fifth starter to open next season. Given that he’s on a minimum deal, Crowder’s contract could potentially become a steal very quickly.
