Premier League predictions: Betting tips for this weekend

A large portion of clubs were in action during the week in the EFL Cup, and it will be interesting to see how their exploits will affect performances amid a busy schedule before the international break.

We nailed two out of four selections last week with our Premier League predictions, and we’ve carefully chosen four bets from this weekend’s games.

After looking at the Premier League odds, here are our tips for this week.

Brentford vs West Ham tips

(Saturday, 3pm)

West Ham ended a run of four games without a win with a brilliant performance to dump Arsenal out of the EFL Cup

A little bit of pressure was building on David Moyes following a 4-1 loss to Aston Villa with a 1-0 defeat at home to Everton.

But, the Hammers responded to advance to the EFL Cup quarter-finals with a 3-1 victory at the London Stadium.

They now visit Brentford in the Premier League, where the Bees will be riding high after defeating Chelsea 2-0 last time out.

Thomas Frank’s men are building momentum after an inconsistent start.

It would have been easy for the Bees to feel sorry for themselves after allowing Scott McTominay to lead Manchester United to a dramatic comeback win in stoppage time at Old Trafford early last month.

They’ve responded well with back-to-back victories without conceding.

West Ham will test them in the final third, having scored in all but one of their games this season. It suggests that there could be goals at Brentford Community Stadium.

After looking at the best football betting sites, we’re backing over 2.5 goals with SpreadEx at 8/11.

Everton vs Brighton tips

(Saturday, 3pm)

Everton have given their season a shot in the arm by winning three of the last four games.

Sean Dyche’s men earned a vital victory over Bournemouth to secure a first home win of the season before following it up with a disciplined 1-0 triumph over West Ham on the road

The Toffees continued the momentum by defeating Burnley 3-0 during the week to progress to the last eight of the EFL Cup.

Whether Everton’s upturn can be sustained against a quality Brighton outfit remains to be seen. But, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin fit, Dyche has a goalscorer on the pitch.

The Seagulls are going through a bit of a bad patch at the moment, which has been reflected in the Premier League top six odds with UK betting sites

Roberto De Zerbi’s men have won only one of the last seven in all competitions, which was a 2-0 triumph over struggling Ajax in the Europa League.

Brighton kept their only clean sheet of the season against Ajax, highlighting issues at the back with De Zerbi’s open system. The Toffees may be able to exploit that, although the Seagulls pose just as much of a threat going the other way.

We’re backing both teams to score at Goodison Park, and for the match to end in a stalemate at 7/2 with BetVictor

Sheffield United vs Wolves tips

(Saturday, 3pm)

Sheffield United are entering desperation territory after extending their winless start to the season to 10 games in a 5-0 hammering at Arsenal last week

Pressure is ramping up on Paul Heckingbottom with his team rooted to the bottom of the Premier League and odds-on with new betting sites to be relegated.

The Blades have lost six in a row in the top flight, conceding 23 goals in the process. Although it is early days in the season, Sheffield United are going to have to play very well in the remaining 28 games to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.

There could be an opportunity against Wolves to get the first win of the campaign.

Gary O’Neil’s men battled hard to earn a point last time out at home to Newcastle after being on the end of a harsh VAR call, not for the first time this term.

The result did come at a cost as Pedro Neto limped off and the Portuguese is expected to miss the trip to Bramall Lane.

To avoid the drop, the Blades must pour everything into games against middling Premier League sides. Given Neto’s injury, we’re backing Heckingbottom’s side to edge a tight contest at 29/10 with BetMGM.

Burnley vs Crystal Palace tips

(Saturday, 3pm)

Vincent Kompany would have been hopeful that his side’s last-gasp win over Luton would have kickstarted their Premier League season.

After taking a 1-0 lead against Chelsea at home in the following game it certainly appeared that way.

But, the Clarets then collapsed to a 4-1 defeat, and have since lost three matches in a row, including an exit in the fourth round of the EFL Cup in midweek at the hands of Everton.

Just as Sheffield United are entering desperation mode, so are Burnley. To have a realistic chance of staying up, the Clarets need to take care of business at home to Palace.

The Eagles may have Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise back after missing time due to injury, which will be a welcome sight for Roy Hodgson.

Palace have lost back-to-back matches and are not an outfit that will strike fear into the Clarets on home soil, scoring only eight goals this term.

But, Hodgson’s men are solid at the back, keeping four clean sheets, the second highest tally in the Premier League this season.

We’re backing a low-scoring game at Turf Moor at odds of 2/1 with Betfred for under 1.5 goals.
