Queen Of The Turf Stakes: $10m mare Alcohol Free to prove she’s a class above

Class is set to prevail in Saturday’s Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) at Randwick, according to Punters Inside Run form expert Mick Sharkie.

Alcohol Free, purchased by Yulong Investments for a staggering $10m in 2022, heads Betr’s market at $3.30 and Sharkie believes favouritism is justified.

“She’s a multiple Group 1-winning mare from 1200m to 1600m in Europe.

“Importantly she won the Group 1 Coronation over 1600m on a heavy track.

“She’s no issue in the ground,” Sharkie said of the six-time winner from just 15 starts.

“You’ve got to ask yourself the question, would Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott be running a $10m horse if it wasn’t ready to win?

“She will come here and make a meal of these I reckon.

“She’s one of the better bets of the day,” Sharkie told Punters Inside Run.

Host Matt Campbell echoed Sharkie’s sentiments on Alcohol Free and the pair also lined up on the biggest danger to the favourite - $8.50 chance Hope In Your Heart.

James McDonald will partner Alcohol Free from barrier two, with the Randwick track rated a Heavy 8 on Friday morning.
