Rangers next manager odds with former Chelsea and Leeds bosses in the running

Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter is one of the early frontrunners to take over at Rangers, following the sacking of Michael Beale.

The 48-year-old left The Blues in April of this year after winning just 12 of his 31 games in charge and was eventually replaced at Stamford Bridge by Mauricio Pochettino ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

But with the Gers now on the lookout for a new head coach, the former Brighton boss is a name heavily linked with the vacant position at Ibrox according to some bookmakers. The Scottish giants are currently third in the SPL after 7 games played, having so far lost to Kilmarnock, Celtic and Aberdeen.

While fellow former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is also thought to be in the running. The Blues legend was sacked by Everton last season and will be looking for a way back into football management after a short spell back at Stamford Bridge.

AZ Alkmaar boss Pascal Jensen is the current frontrunner after reports claimed he would be interested in the role..

Kevin Muscat is second favourite in the betting having recently spent time in Australia with Melbourne Victory and in Japan with Yokohama F. Marinos. The 50-year-old also won the Scottish treble with Rangers in 2003 under Alex McLeish as a player.

But it’s Potter whose name may come as a shock to many, given his Premier League pedigree and superb rise throughout the English game so far during his career.

The former Swansea manager has also been linked with a job in Ligue 1 with Lyon, following the sacking of Laurent Blanc.

It had also been suggested that Potter was in no rush to jump straight back into management, with other news outlets hinting he may take a similar approach to Eddie Howe, following his lengthy hiatus before jumping back in with Newcastle United.
