These were two of the best defensive teams in the league this season. The Rangers allowed 2.63 goals per game (fourth-best) while the Devils weren’t too far behind at 2.71 (eighth-best).

The Devils actually had a better expected goals against per 60 minutes at 5-on-5 this season (2.42) than the Rangers (2.64) but New York made up for that with Igor Shesterkin in net.

The two teams played four games this season and although three of the games went Over the total, their most recent game - and only post-deadline game - had a final score of 2-1 with the Devils taking care of business at home.
