Rece Davis picks Oregon to win, Oregon State to cover

Dan Rubenstein On Why Oregon State Will Challenge Oregon | 11.22.23

College GameDay host Rece Davis likes Oregon to beat Oregon State in the Civil War but it’s going to be closer than anticipated.

Right now, it’s a 13.5-point spread in favor of the Ducks as the No. 6 team in the country plays host to the Beavers. Oregon State can definitely affect the CFP race with a win Saturday night.

Below is the rundown on the game and Davis’ preview and pick for the final Civil War between the schools as Pac-12 programs.

How to watch Oregon vs. Oregon State

Location: 8:30 p.m. ET
Channel: FOX, FuboTV (streaming)
Location: Eugene (Ore.)

“If (the Beavers win) this game, then Arizona can win its way into the Pac-12 championship Game and disrupt not only the national championship race, but also disrupt the Heisman race where Bo Nix has moved, you know, to the top of some boards in terms of in terms of the odds,” Davis said on the College GameDay Podcast. “I know that Oregon built a big lead last year on Oregon State, and you know, sort of spit it up. I think the Ducks are going to be really, really unhappy.

“But I really thought since the beginning of the season, I think Oregon State is a really, really good team. I think Oregon is going to win the game. But I think those points, it’s way too many points. So I’m going to take the Beavs to make it tough on Bo Nix and the Ducks. I think the Ducks win, but I’ll take Oregon State and the almost two touchdowns and two extra points.”

If Oregon State wins, Oregon will have to hope Arizona loses, otherwise the Wildcats will make the Pac-12 Championship against Washington.

Oregon would love the rematch with the Huskies and an opportunity to prove its worth to make the College Football Playoff.

But to do so, the Ducks have to beat their rival. The future of the rivalry is up in the air as Oregon goes to the Big Ten and Oregon State stays back with a “Pac-2” and Mountain West merger.

“Yeah, I think games like this are really important. It’d be great if that’s something we could make happen, and continue to make happen,” Oregon head coach Dan Lanning said. “I know the people on our end would love to see that continue.”

One thing’s for sure, both teams are going to leave everything out there in the final Civil War, for now.
