Rival sports betting proposals on California ballot
Propositions 26 and 27 to legalize sports betting in California are the most expensive ballot initiatives in state history. Both will appear on the November 8 midterm ballot. Native American tribes support Proposition 26, while some smaller tribes back Proposition 27. The latter would allow major sportsbook companies to offer online and mobile sports bets. It would also require them to partner with a California tribe and shell out $100 million to get licensed in the state. If Proposition27 passes, California would join a growing wave of states that have given the green light to mobile and online sports gambling.
