Rockets at Spurs, Oct. 27: Prediction, point spread, odds, best bet

The Houston Rockets visit San Antonio’s Frost Bank Center to play the Spurs on Friday night, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, money line odds and over/under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet.

The game starts at 7:00 p.m. Central and can be seen on the Space City Home Network and NBA League Pass.

The Rockets (0-1) and Spurs (0-1) split a pair of exhibitions in the same building last week. That could offer hope for Houston, which didn’t have third-year guard Jalen Green — their leading scorer a season ago — available in either game, owing to a toenail problem.

Then again, the Spurs looked much better in each team’s respective opener to the 2023-24 regular season. San Antonio took Dallas down to the wire in a close loss Wednesday, while Houston was crushed by the Magic in a game where Orlando’s physicality and athleticism proved overwhelming on the defensive end of the court.

Thus, to no surprise, the host Spurs are clear favorites as it stands. Like the Magic, San Antonio also boasts a long and athletic defense, with 7-foot-3 rookie Victor Wembanyama starting at power forward alongside a pair of big guards in Devin Vassell and Jeremy Sochan.

Here’s a look at Friday’s lines:

  • Point spread: Spurs -2.5
  • Money line: Spurs -130 / Rockets +110
  • Over-under: 225.5

Rockets at Spurs injury report:

Houston’s injury report for Friday night lists Tari Eason (left lower leg stress reaction), Jock Landale (head, concussion protocol), and Victor Oladipo (left patellar tendon repair) as out.

The Spurs are without Devonte’ Graham (league suspension).

Advice and prediction

The Spurs looked far better in each team’s regular-season opener, and they largely outplayed the Rockets in two exhibitions a week ago. The lone exception was a fourth-quarter rally featuring primarily end-of-bench options who are unlikely to play Friday.

While Green’s availability could offer a different dynamic, his performance Wednesday wasn’t very encouraging. We’ll take the home team until the Rockets give us a reason to think otherwise.

Prediction: Spurs 114, Rockets 110
