Confirmed runners and riders for the Coral Stewards' Cup at Glorious Goodwood on Saturday

Orazio will lead trainer Charlie Hills’s bid for a third victory in the Coral Stewards’ Cup on the final day of Glorious Goodwood on Saturday after the ante-post favourite was among a full field of 28 horses declared for the sprint.

Sixth when favourite for the Wokingham at Royal Ascot last time, Orazio is one of two runners in the race for Hills, alongside Tanmawwy, as the trainer seeks to add to his previous successes in the race with Magical Memory in 2015 and Khaadem in 2019.

Magical Memory and Khaadem both won from low-numbered stalls, and Hills again opted to go low with his runners this year. Orazio will break from stall six with Tanmawwy berthed in stall eight.

Frankie Dettori’s final ride in the Stewards’ Cup, a race he won on Magical Memory and also on Lancelot Du Lac in 2017, will be aboard the Richard Hannon-trained Mums Tipple. Connections of Mums Tipple have also gone low with the draw, choosing stall five for their runner.

King's Lynn is also drawn low in stall seven and his trainer Andrew Balding said: “We were very keen to get near the favourite [Orazio] and actually we were drawn third last out. We’ve drawn seven, I would rather have been eight, 10 or 12, but perfectly happy. 

"I think with another two days of racing, it’s going to look very different on Saturday morning. King’s Lynn is in great form.” 

Previous Stewards’ Cup winner Summerghand is back, with Jason Watson riding the nine-year-old, while his stablemate Aberama Gold, a game winner at York last weekend, has been given the go-ahead to run by trainer David O’Meara.

Kevin Ryan saddles two runners in Bielsa and Aleezdancer, with the former drawn high in stall 26 and the latter low in stall two. He said: “Both horses are in good form. The ground has been quite poached [on the near] side, but it seemed the place to be on the first couple of days, so we’ve taken the chance and gone with one of them there. Aleezdancer was drawn late on, so I thought we will put him on the other rail and then hope it develops either side. 

"Obviously something will come out from down the middle now! The horses are in good form, so I’m hopeful.” 

The most notable absentee from the final field is Scurry Handicap winner Strike Red, who had been second favourite with some bookmakers for the Stewards’ Cup.

Coral’s John Hill said: “Orazio tops the betting to give Charlie Hills a third success in the Coral Stewards’ Cup on the final day of Glorious Goodwood. The four-year-old has been popular ever since we opened betting on the six-furlong contest."

Free Wind heads eight fillies declared for the Group 3 Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes as she bids to bounce back from defeat when favourite for the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot last time.

Trainers John and Thady Gosden also run Ghara, while the Aidan O’Brien-trained Library does not feature among the final field.
