Horse racing fans don’t have to wait long for Royal Ascot to start and the final day of the five-day festival should cap it all off nicely.
The biggest flat festival starts on Tuesday, June 14 all the way until Saturday, June 18 and across the five days there are 35 races, including multiple Group contests.
The British Champions Series and the Classic races that take place across the Flat season come thick and fast at Royal Ascot with at least two ran every day featuring the best rated horses around the world.
Hardwicke Stakes betting tip
Hurricane Lane 4/5 & Solid Stone to place 6/5
There’s now only eight runners in what could have been a big field for this Group 2 1m4f trip.
The trends over the last year give a better indication to how suited the odds-on favourite, Hurricane Lane is to take this well.
Ten of the last ten renewals have seen a group winner first past the post and only the highly-rated horses can also go on to win with previous solid wins or runs in tough contests.
Sir Michael Stoute won the Derby at the start of June with Desert Crown and he could continue that huge winning form with a win here as he has trained five of the last ten runnings.
His runner, Solid Stone will adorn the same colours and have the same jockey, Richard Kingscote as Desert Crown did and is a great indication of connections and runners going well.
Solid Stone is potentially over-priced at 8/1 and potentially has more chance than the second-favourite Broome who is around 5’s.
If the odds-on favourite doesn’t take your fancy, Solid Stone to place early on is a great price and even an each-way shot stands a good chance of coming in for profit.
Platinum Jubilee Stakes betting tip
Highfield Princess 14/1
Despite the big fields in this race every year the huge outsiders don’t tend to get a look in.
Four of the last ten runnings have seen the favourite first past the post and eight of the last ten renewals have seen odds of 9/2 or lower.
Trainer Wesley Ward for the US is set to bring his 4-year-old Campanelle into this race in an attempt to win this race for the second time after winning in 2015 – back when it was called the Diamond Jubilee – with Undrafted at 14/1.
It was revealed this week too that all his runners will be ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr a prominent Puerto Rican jockey who is often at the fore in North American races.
Ward could send Golden Pal into this race too but is favoured for the King’s Stand Stakes on Tuesday.
Highfield Princess might just beat the field of 28 though at odds of around 12/1 in the ante-post market.
The John Quinn-trained horse won the Group 2 Duke Of York Stakes in May and could continue to improve over this 6f trip.
