Saffron Beach set for Sun Chariot repeat bid
Saffron Beach is the winner of the Royal Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes (2.42) last year. She is defending her crown at Newmarket on Saturday. Saffon Beach was ridden by Hollie Doyle last time out. William Buick will ride her again. Rob Hornby won a Group 1 in Falmouth on Prosperous Voyage. The Ralph Beckett-trained three-year-old and Homeless Songs are the only other Group One winners in the nine-runner field. The horse is being offered at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale on November 29.
Saffron Beach is favourite to win the Sun Chariot Stakes. Homeless Songs is second. Laurel, Prosperous Voyage, Grande Dame and Fonteyn are also in the running.
Gale Force Maya steps up to Group company at Ascot on Saturday. Charlie Appleby will be relying on Al Suhail instead of Creative Force. Royal Ascott winner Rohaan returns to the Berkshire venue for the first time since his Wokingham win in June. William Haggas has a strong hand with Tiber Flow and Perfect News.
