Shock Arsenal Premier League title race prediction made after Liverpool and Tottenham starts

Stan Collymore has Liverpool to finish above Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur this season.

The former Reds man believes anyone who finishes above Jurgen Klopp’s side will win the Premier League. Liverpool and Manchester City were, at one stage, fierce rivals for the league title.

But the latter has won three titles on the bounce to tighten their grip on English football in recent years. Many expected Liverpool to endure a season of rebuilding in 2023-24, with several long-serving players leaving the club.

Klopp was forced into a midfield overhaul in the summer while fans’ favourite Roberto Firmino also left. However, the situation has played out perfectly as a resurgent Reds have propelled themselves into the title reckoning.

The controversial loss to Spurs last month is their only defeat and there are whispers Liverpool could clinch an unlikely league triumph. But as it stands, the two North London clubs are neck and neck in pole position.

Tottenham are enjoying a renaissance of their own under Ange Postecoglou while Arsenal, who finished second last season, bolstered their ranks further in the transfer market. Despite trailing by two points, Collymore only expects Liverpool to be challenging City come the end of the season.

“Liverpool still have a very new squad,” he told CaughtOffside. “Especially in midfield, so it’s going to be interesting to see how some of those new names handle their first Merseyside Derby.

“I suspect they’ll come through it and continue to have another great campaign. If any team finishes above Jurgen Klopp’s men, they’ll be champions.

“For me, Liverpool will either win the league or they’ll finish second. I think they’ll finish higher than Spurs and higher than Arsenal. The only team I see doing better than them over a 38-game season is Manchester City.”
