SIAC Week Six Preview

Fort Valley State needs to win to stay one game behind Benedict. Savannah State has a homecoming game against Virginia-Lynchburg. Lane looks to remain undefeated in conference against Kentucky State. Clark-Atlanta travels to Allen. Albany State tries to take care of business against Edward Waters.

Fort Valley State (4-1, 1-0) travels to Wilberforce, Ohio to play Central State. The Wildcats bring in an offense that is averaging 23.2 ppg and a defense that gives up 22.4 pPG. Central has the SIAC's second best scoring offense at 26.8 pg and the conference's worst scoring defense at 28.0 pge.

Benedict (5-0, 3-1) leads the SIAC in many categories. Miles (1-4, 1-2) is last in the conference. Benedict is 3 of 7 in last ten meetings with Miles. Last year's game was won by Benedict. The game will count for Miles as it is a conference game.

Kentucky State (1-4, 1-1 SIAC) trails Benedict and Albany State in rushing yards per game (188.6) and have the conference's top rushing defense at 114.2 ypg. Lane (3-2, 2-0) are tied for the top of the SI AC West and are coming off an overtime upset of FCS HBCU Tennessee State, 28-27. The offense is scoring at a 25.5 ppg clip and the defense is giving up 19.8 pPG.

Savannah State lost at home to Kentucky State. They play Virginia-Lynchburg at 3 pm.

Clark-Atlanta (1-4, 0-3) lost to Tuskegee in double-overtime. Clark- Atlanta is second in the conference in opponent first downs, 18.5, and time-of-possession (32:39). Allen (0-5) is looking for their first win of the season. Allen has the third best passing attack in SIAC.

Albany State (4-1, 2-0) is the conference's second best rushing team. Edward Waters (1-4, 1-2) has a short week due to a Sunday game because of Hurricane Ian.

The 87th Classic will take place in Birmingham, AL for the second consecutive year. Tuskegee and Lane have met 111 times, with Tuskeegee winning 73-31-7. Morehouse won the first Classic in Alabama 31-15 last season.
