Silver Slipper key to winning Golden bonus
Queen Of The Ball is the early favourite for Saturday's Silver Slipper at Rosehill. There are 23 entries for the Group 2 $250,000 Silver slipper (1100m) with the final field and barrier draw released on Wednesday morning.
The winner of Saturday's feature two-year-old race is the only horse eligible for the Australian Turf Club’s new $1m bonus. The winner must win another designated pathway race in either the Sweet Embrace Stakes and Reisling Stake for fillies, the Skyline Stages or Todman Staking for colts and geldings, and then the $5m Longines Golden Slipper. Farnan won the Silver Slippers-Todmans Staw and Golden Sipper treble in 2020. Queen Of The Ball is a trainer Richard and Michael Freedman's best chance of going back-to-back in the Golden sipper after winning the world's richest two year old race last year with Stay Inside.
Queen Of The Ball won the Widden Stakes and Best Of Bordeaux won Canonbury Stake. Godolphin's Anamoe is the favourite to win the Hobartville St.akes. Paulele, Ranch Hand and Converge are the second and third favourites respectively. Converge and Silent Impact will clash on Saturday.
