Soft Launch Could Trigger Massachusetts In-Person Sports Betting Jan. 31. The first bets could be placed during a soft launch on Monday, Jan 30, 2023. In the meantime, one commissioner would visit Plainridge Park Casino, MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbor to observe how they handle taking bets. Commissioner Nakisha Skinner's name was picked out of a cup to be the observer at EnCore, but she didn't want to go. The commission could vote to award the certificates of operations on January 27. Public start of betting on Feb. 1st. It's dependent on the commission's equipment and software testing partner Gaming Labs International.
