Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes is looking to make a deal prior to the start of the season. He wants to gain as much cap space as he can to change his strategy regarding the Canadiens' LTIR situation. Mike Hoffman, Joel Armia and Christan Dvorak are among the players the Montreal Canadiens have been shopping this summer. If the team could clear some $2M in cap money before the beginning of season, they may be able to remove Carey Price from off-season LT IR.
Jake Allen is a goalie in high demand. Montreal Canadiens are in contract talks with their current No. 1 goalie. The team is considering a trade. The season starts on October 12th. It's unlikely that the Canadiens will trade goalie before the start of the season. They did it with Artturi Lehkonen at the last season's trade deadline.
