Texas A&M has dropped two straight games and will look to bounce back at home against the 2-5 South Carolina Gamecocks. Through 7 games, a rather simple trend has developed for the Aggies: They are 4-0 when rushing for over 100 yards and 0-3 when failing to reach that mark. I expect A&M to lean on the run game in this one against an average South Carolina rush defense that gave up 213 yards on the ground against Mizzou last week. Overall, the Aggies offense has been just good enough, but their defense typically steals the show.

The Aggies rank 9th in total defense allowing just 277.9 yards per game and 13th in passing yards allowed per game (172.7). I would struggle to rely on an inconsistent Gamecocks’ offense that will likely lean on Spencer Rattler to make plays through the air against a stout Aggie secondary. South Carolina went 3-for-14 on 3rd downs last week, and I expect that to be an issue again this week considering A&M ranks 6th in the country in 3rd-down defense, allowing a conversion only 28.6% of the time. As I expect the Aggies’ run game to control the pace of this game and their excellent defense to take care of business against a mediocre offense, I’ll be taking the under in this matchup.
