Southampton reportedly reject Liverpool's £45 million offer for Lavia

SAINTS have reportedly rejected a £45 million offer, including add odds, from Liverpool for their star midfielder Romeo Lavia.

The 19 year old has been the subject of strong interest from the Anfield side, who have now seen a third bid rejected.

Lavia made 29 Premier League appearances as Saints were relegated to the Championship last season.

The teenager was a part of Southampton's squad that travelled to Sheffield Wednesday for the opening day of the Championship season but remained as an unused substitute as Russell Martin's side secured a 1-2 victory.

Multiple outlets report that Saints have rejected a £45 million bid from Liverpool for the Belgian international and have once again stated they will require a £50 million fee for his release.

Both Jason Wilcox (director of football) and Phil Parsons (CEO) have made it clear in interviews this summer that the St Mary's side are unwilling to sell their key players for cut-price deals.

Talks between the two sides are said to be ongoing as the Merseyside outfit are keen to bolster their midfield having lost key names Jordan Henderson and Fabinhio to the lucrative Saudi Pro League last month.
