Sports betting to be a priority next legislative session
There are 36 states that have legalized sports betting. In Kansas, it was legal before the NFL season started. Missouri has not legalized it yet. The first two weeks of sports betting in Kansas were successful. The bill proposed by Rep. Dan Houx would impose a 10% tax on sports bets. It would bring in $16 million to the state annually. There are no laws regulating "grey" slot machines. They are unregulated. A big point of contention this past session was what to do with them. Their presence was a concern for lawmakers. For example, they called them "Grey" machines, which have no consumer protections.
