Del Mar racing office has released a list of probables for next weekend's Grade 1 stakes races. The races will decide the champion 2-year-olds of the summer meet and set the stage for the run to the Breeders’ Cup in November at Keeneland.

The popular rider will have mounts in six of the eight races on Friday. Prats is available because of a break in racing in New York. Saratoga closes today and the Belmont Park at Aqueduct meet doesn't open until September 15.

Emily Ellingwood, 28, is Del Mar's top apprentice jockey with six wins. Abdul Alsagoor is next with two. Elledwood lost her 'bug' with that sixth win on August 27. She's been around horses all her life. She rode horses in her backyard. Her childhood dream was to work with horses. The last apprentice to win the DelMar riding title was in 1973. This year it's not going to happen this year. It's a competition between the apprentices to see who can win most races. Apprentice jockeys often find that business drops off when they lose their status.

The final week of racing at Del Mar this summer kicks-off with an eight-race card on Friday. The $125,000 I'm Smokin Stakes for 2-year-olds is the final Cal-bred stakes race of the meet. Moon Ice, a stablemate of Flightline, will make his first career start. Kangaroo Court won a maiden special weight at 5 furlong last month. Straighten Up and Merit Song are also in the field. Giver Not a Taker is a gelding trained by Peter Miller. He won at first asking at Los Alamitos in July and then came back and won an entry level allowance race two weeks ago.

Midnight Memories came out of her win in the G3 Torrey Pines in good order. Lieutenant Dan came from his debut win G2 Green Flash in shape. Steve Miyadi has no plans yet for his Breeder's Cup eligible turf sprinter Lieutenant Dans.
