Stage is set as Pinatubo attempts to end season unbeaten in Dewhurst

Pinatubo is aiming to end season unbeaten in Dewhurst. The colt has been racing since May and has already won two races. Charlie Appleby is confident he can win the race. He is also confident that Newmarket can catch a few horses out. Pinatubero has drawn comparisons to Arazi and Celtic Swing. He has won all his starts. His last race was a nine-length victory in the Vincent O'Brien National Stakes. It was his first start and he has a record of six wins from six.

Aidan O'Brien has four Coolmore horses in the Dewhurst Stakes. O’Brien won the race six times and reeled off three in a row before Too Darn Hot's victory last year. Two of the Coolmores went on to claim the 2,000 Guineas the following season. Arizona has over nine lengths to find with Pinatubo judged on his National Stake third. Monarch of Egypt goes beyond 6f for the first time and needs to bounce back from an eighth in Middle Park. Year of The Tiger is the outsider of a nine-strong field.

Pinatubo is the favourite for Dewhurst. Clive Cox's colt Positive finished second in the Vintage Stakes. Mystery Power finished behind Pinatuba at Goodwood. Royal Commando finished two places behind Mystery power in Mill Reef. Mark Johnston's Iffraaz is also in this year's field.
