Super Bowl 2024 player props for Deebo Samuel: Best picks to wager

San Francisco 49ers dual-threat receiver/running back Deebo Samuel is being touted as an X-factor ahead of Super Bowl 2024 for his receiving and rushing abilities.

The problem is that Samuel isn’t much of a runner anymore.

Samuel had just 2.5 rushing attempts and 15 rushing yards per game this season, his fewest over the last three seasons.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan has moved further and further away from Samuel as a ball carrier as the season has gone on too.

Samuel had exactly one rushing attempt in four of his last eight regular-season games and more than three rushing attempts in just one of those games.

That trend has continued into this postseason.

Samuel didn’t have a single rushing attempt during the divisional round against the Packers — he did exit early, though — and had just three attempts for seven yards against the Lions.

As of this writing, Samuel’s rushing yard total is sitting at 16.5 at most major sportsbooks, which is a number he’s rarely hit this season.

Samuel has gone Over 16.5 rushing yards in five of his 17 games played this year.

Over his past seven games, he’s gone Over 16.5 rushing yards just once.

During the conference Championship game, Samuel’s rushing yard Over/Under was as long as 5.5, so this total is a welcome sight for those looking to fade his rushing prospects.

This 16.5 figure is high enough to allow for a chunk run for Samuel, which he is fully capable of doing.

But he’ll likely need multiple attempts to hit the Over, even against this shaky Chiefs rushing defense.

And multiple rushes are about a 50/50 possibility with how Shanahan has deployed him in the run game of late.

Take the Under at near even-money (-105) at DraftKings.

Bet: Under 16.5 rushing yards (-105, DraftKings)
