Super Bowl 58 best bets: 2024 SB odds and preview

The NFL playoffs are set to get underway this weekend as seven teams from each conference pursue their ultimate goal of capturing a Super Bowl ring.

What started as a 32-team chase for the Lombardi Trophy is now just over a month away from the biggest game of the year.

Here are the latest Super Bowl odds, and Super Bowl 58 best bets:

2024 Super Bowl odds: 49ers, Ravens favored to win Lombardi Trophy

The San Francisco 49ers are the odds-on favorites to win the Super Bowl this year. They ranked third in points scored, points allowed and point differential. They also won 11 games by at least 10 points and are believed to have the best top-to-bottom roster in the league.

The Baltimore Ravens are next in the list of odds and are the favored AFC team. They led the league in average point differential behind the league’s stingiest defense and the play of presumptive MVP, Lamar Jackson. They also walloped the Niners 33-19 on the road on Christmas.

The Buffalo Bills are a surprise inclusion at the No. 3 spot. Roughly -200 to miss the playoffs a month and a half ago, they enter the playoffs on a five-game win streak thanks to the league’s leader in touchdowns, QB Josh Allen.

The Dallas Cowboys come in after the Bills. They were second in point differential and proved to be explosive on offense and disruptive on defense, though they struggled on the road.

The Kansas City Chiefs are the last team in the top five of Super Bowl 2024 odds. Their offense isn’t anywhere near as potent as it was in years past, but they allowed the second-fewest points and generated the second-most sacks.

2024 Super Bowl prediction: Kansas City Chiefs (+1000 or better)

The NFL playoffs aren’t that dissimilar to the NBA postseason. In both instances, games are all about scoring, no matter the cost, and getting stops.

The Chiefs defense was undoubtedly one of the three best in the league and can stand up against even the best offenses in the league (18.3 average points allowed to Philly, Buffalo, and Miami).

Patrick Mahomes is still a two-time MVP and Super Bowl MVP and has more big-game experience than everyone in front of him. He also has the rare advantage of being the underdog. That should prove to be invaluable as he looks to catalyze a group of skill-position players that underperformed during the regular season.

It’s not every day you get a chance to bet on the best football player in the world and one of the most creative coaches for long odds. We’ll need to see the Chiefs be dominated in the playoffs before we believe they aren’t the favorites to come out of the AFC.

2024 Super Bowl long shot: Cleveland Browns (+3000 or better)

Consider this for a moment: the Browns start their playoff run against a rookie head coach and a rookie quarterback representing the Houston Texans, who have next to no playoff experience.

From there, they’d visit their division rivals, the Baltimore Ravens, after they’d taken a couple of weeks off and lost their momentum. If they win that game, they’d only be one win away from playing in the Super Bowl, and at that point, all bets are off.

Cleveland has an excellent defense that was fifth in turnovers and sixth in sacks. They also went 4-1 and had a much more dynamic, explosive offense with Joe Flacco under center. The 38-year-old is already immortalized in football lore for a clutch Super Bowl run in 2012 (when, coincidentally, he beat the 49ers in the championship game), so who’s to say he doesn’t have another in him?
