Elina Svitolina v Aliaksandra Sasnovich Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings between these two and both have won one. They haven’t played each other since 2019 and both those matches came in hardcourt competitions.

Svitolina Hoping to Get Back into Rhythm

Svitolina was away from the tennis circuit after the 2022 Miami Open as she announced her pregnancy and finally returned to competitive tennis earlier this year.

She admitted she didn’t train too much and it has only been recently that the Ukrainian player has tried to get back to her best. Earlier this month, she kick-started her journey at Charleston where she went down in three hard-fought sets to Yulia Putintseva.

And since then, Svitolina has featured in a couple of ITF competitions at Chiasso and Oeiras where she has won one of the three matches she has played.

Can she now win her first match at the highest level which, according to the bookmakers, seems to be a possibility.

Sasnovich’s Won Just Four Matches This Season

Having started off the season ranked 30th in the world, Sasnovich hasn’t had a great time in 2023 and has slid down to 49th in the world. That’s what can happen when you win just four main draw matches over the nine tournaments she’s played this season.

Sasnovich’s climb to the 30th rank had come as a result of her performances on both, clay and hardcourt surfaces last year.

At the French Open, Sasnovich had made the fourth round in 2022 and finished the clay swing with a quarterfinal appearance at Hamburg.

This year, however, in continuation of her poor form, Sasnovich lost in the very first round of her first clay-court competition which came at Hamburg. She went down to Sofia Kenin in three sets.
