Sydney Roosters vs West Tigers prediction and odds: NRL 2023 Round 26

With the Sydney Roosters desperately fighting to keep their season alive, can they continue to have a chance with a big win over the West Tigers on Saturday in the NRL? Read on for our Roosters vs Tigers predictions.

Sydney Roosters vs West Tigers – Match Predictions

This clash sees two teams sitting outside the top eight on the NRL ladder face off, with Sydney  11th and the Tigers as low as can go, at 17th. Here are our top predictions ahead of the Roosters vs Tigers this Saturday:

Sydney Roosters to Win by 13+ @ 1.73 (8/11)

The past three weeks have given Roosters fans a glimmer of hope that their season can be resurrected. Wins over the Sea Eagles, Dolphins and Eels mean that the Roosters still have a shot of making the post-season–and they’ve even been playing some decent rugby league to boot.

With this glimmer of hope, and hosting the worst team in the competition at home, expect Sydney to continue their momentum and bag another solid win en route to a potential playoffs spot.

Sydney Roosters to Win By 31-35 @ 15.00 (14/1)

While the Tigers are currently embracing the wooden spoon in the NRL, their past five outings haven’t actually been too bad. Sure, they’ve only won one–against fellow struggling side the Dolphins, by one point–but several of their losses have been close calls.

Given how well the Tigers have played, for so little reward, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it all come crumbling down on Saturday. They’ve got their win last week, they’ve put in some big shifts but still lost, it’s hard to see them turning up and playing gritty, disciplined football in Sydney. There’s every chance that an unfocused Tigers team, plus a motivated, confident Roosters outfit, equals a big blow out here.

Sydney Roosters vs West Tigers preview

Heading into this match, here’s a look at how both teams’ seasons have gone so far in the NRL 2023:

Sydney Roosters

The Roosters have by and large been the biggest flop in 2023. They were touted as the side most likely to challenge the Panthers, and yet, they currently sit 11th with an 11-11 win-loss ratio. With three wins in a row, however, they could still redeem their season by scraping into the playoffs and causing some upsets. However, with a log-jam in their section of the NRL ladder, the Roosters absolutely must win this match, and win it well.

West Tigers

It’s been more of the same for the West Tigers this season, with the outfit spluttering their way to a measly four wins, three of which came in an uncharacteristically good burst of form in late April and early May. They have nothing to play for here, except a little pride, and the possibility of avoiding the wooden spoon if they manage to bag a couple of wins to end the season.

Sydney Roosters vs West Tigers head to head

The Sydney Roosters dominate this head to head, leading 28-9 across the two sides’ 37 encounters in the NRL.
