The Calgary Flames are the class of the Pacific Division. The Canucks are not ready to challenge for the title yet. Most of their key players are over 30 years old. They have a better top-six than the Flames. Their defence is better than Calgary's. Canucks have two or three top defencemen, whereas Calgary has five. Thatcher Demko is a good goalie, but he can't win games on his own. Vancouver should be targeting the decline of Calgary to start their own contending phase. Calgary is in a supernova phase, while the Canucks will be in their peak. Vancouver is preparing for a younger core with a young core.
