Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort plans to launch its sports betting app by football season. It will join Betly and other apps already in operation. The Arkansas Razorbacks open their season on September 3 at home in Fayetteville against the Cincinnati Bearcats.

Oaklawn is a historic thoroughbred racetrack in Hot Springs, Arkansas. It is the site of the annual Arkansas Derby. The raceway was a popular vacation spot for gangsters such as Al Capone, Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel and Charles ‘Lucky’ Luciano.

Companies seeking a $200,000 contract to provide a problem-gambling education and treatment program in Arkansas have until August 2 to file paperwork. Last year, a lawsuit was filed against the Arkansas Racing Commission, claiming the treatment has not been implemented as required by a 2018 public vote allowing gambling expansion in the state. A review committee will score the proposals and announce its choice between Sept. 19 and Oct. 4.
