Throwback Thursday: When Soccer Stars Took Over EPT Barcelona

Footballers enjoy playing poker. Many of them are currently in Qatar for the World Cup. The PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona stop was in full swing in August 2019. Gerard Pique and Arturo Vidal were playing in the €25,000 Single-Day High Roller.

Pique and Vidal played poker together. Pique won €129,350 at EPT Barcelona. Vidale had no poker wins, but he had a reputation for being tough-tackling. Michael Addamo, Joao Vieira, Juan Pardo, and Mike Watson were eliminated. Watson came in ninth place.  Ramin Hajiyev and Kazujiko Yotsushika were also eliminated in the same hand by Pado.

Vidal finished fifth in the EPT Barcelona tournament. Pardo won the tournament with a huge advantage. Vidal is the fourth most-capped Chilean player in history. He retired from professional football earlier this month. Spain are in action in World Cup today, December 1. They play Japan. Pique is not involved. His team is in Group Stage. The match is their third and final Group stage fixture. It is taking place in Barcelona. A year ago Piqué finished second in Ept Barcelona, behind Pado.
