  • Moneyline: Tigers -150, Royals +125
  • Runline: Tigers -1.5 (+110), Royals +1.5 (-135)
  • Total: Over/Under 8.0 Runs (-120/+100)

Eduardo Rodriguez (5-5, 2.70 ERA, 81 K in 76.2 IP) vs Ryan Yarbrough (2-4, 5.29 ERA, 19 K in 32.1 IP)

In his last four starts, Rodriguez has been the epitome of an ace: 29 K’s in 20 innings against only six walks. The southpaw has allowed just one home run in his last 35 innings, spreading out over seven starts. He’s keeping the ball at the edges of the strike zone, and he’s forcing weak contact. As a result he’s won his last two starts. Now, the Tigers call on him to get a victory following a tough loss on Tuesday.

Rodriguez relies heavily on his four-seam fastball. That and his cutter account for closer to two-thirds of his pitches. The Royals lineup is making the weakest contact on four-seamers among AL teams. That should result in a great night for ERod.

The Tigers have little history against journeyman Yarbrough. The 31-year old lefty uses his sinker and curve combo to coax ground balls. He’s not known for getting swings-and-misses, so Detroit will likely keep him under 4.5 K’s. Add to that the fact he’s averaging 74 pitches per start, which means he won’t go deep into the lineup.

Tigers Score Over 5.5 Runs (+150 from BetMGM Sportsbook)… Detroit put 10 runs on the board Tuesday, and it might have popped the lid off the bottle. We especially like the matchup against KC starter Ryan Yarbrough, a control specialist who pitches to contact. Detroit’s right-handed bats could be in for a big game (Spencer Torkelson to hit another HR, anyone?).

  • The Tigers have outscored the Royals 43-35 this season, but have a 5-3 record against KC.
  • The Tigers are 4-3 Against The Spread in their last 7 games.
  • The Royals are 3-8 Against The Spread in their most recent 11 games.

Spencer Torkelson hit two homers, a double, and had 5 RBI in Tuesday’s loss. Torkelson now leads the Tigers in runs scored, doubles, extra-base hits, home runs (14), RBI (51), and walks… Kerry Carpenter is batting .300 with 3 HR and 7 RBI since the All-Star break… Javier Baez is hitting .300 but with only one RBI since the break… Akil Baddoo did not start in left field on Tuesday, but he’s seemed to have won the starting spot over Eric Haase.

Today’s same-game parlay is from DraftKings. We used the Quick SGP feature, which allows DK sportsbook users to quickly assemble their favorite parlay. Here we have a three-leg parlay with odds of +800. A winning $100 bet would be worth $900, including your original stake.

  • Detroit Tigers Moneyline
  • Spencer Torkelson To Hit a Home Run
  • 2+ Spencer Torkelson Hits

Just because a player was successful one night, doesn’t mean he will be the next. That’s the famed “hot hand fallacy,” and we sports bettors need to be wary of it. However, in baseball a batter may get into a groove and carry that into the next game and the next. Last night, Torkelson punished two fastballs and sent them both over the wall. He seems locked in since the break, and this SGP is on his shoulders.
