Tennessee’s rookie quarterback Will Levis was one of the standout stories of Week 8 as he stepped in for his NFL debut and threw four touchdowns to power the Titans to victory over the Falcons. Can he repeat that explosive impact as his team travels to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers? It will be tough, that’s for sure.

Until Week 8, the Titans were struggling with Ryan Tannehill at quarterback. Then, in stepped Levis.

The rookie became just the third NFL player ever to throw four touchdowns on his league debut as he fired on all cylinders to launch Tennessee to victory over the Atlanta Falcons. He is expected to get a second straight start in Pittsburgh in primetime to kick off Week 9 and it will be a huge test of his mettle in front of a raucous hostile crowd in Pennsylvania.

Levis’ partner in crime against the Falcons was wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who scored his first, second, and third TDs of the season on four receptions with 128 yards. Meanwhile, star running back Derrick Henry is on pace for another 1,000-yard season.

Can Levis and his explosive arsenal pair fire Tennessee to victory again to kick off Week 9?

While the Titans are trending upwards at quarterback, the same can’t be said for the hosting Steelers. Starting QB Kenny Pickett is expected to be a game-time decision after being knocked out of Sunday’s defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars with a rib injury. Mitch Trubisky finished the game but didn’t exactly sparkle, throwing an ugly interception in the fourth quarter. At face value, it will be tough for Pickett to play on a quick turnaround this week.

It’s not just a QB problem, though: the likes of Najee Harris and George Pickens haven’t been up to scratch for Pittsburgh this year. If Pittsburgh is going to make it five wins in a row vs. Tennessee, they’ll need another big defensive night from T.J. Watt, who is tied for third in the NFL with 8.5 sacks, particularly as Pro Bowl safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, who leads the team in tackles this year, suffered a hamstring injury early in the first quarter vs. the Jags and didn’t return.

Kickoff at Acrisure Stadium is at 7:15 p.m. CT. The Titans are 0-3 on the road this season and the Steelers began the week as 3-point favorites.

Levis’ outstanding debut display was the smallest sample size possible, but there were enough signs that it wasn’t merely a one-game flash in the pan that backing the Titans’ spread doesn’t seem too risky. With Hopkins and Henry both still in Tennessee after the trade deadline and both firing, the Titans have more than enough weaponry to hurt a Steelers side missing key pieces in their own backyard.

Plus, Mike Vrabel loves being labelled an underdog. He’s 23-22 straight up and 27-17-1 ATS as the unfancied party in his career. In contrast, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin struggles as a favorite, going 82-94-2 ATS with that tag.

Getting too high on Henry from a bettors’ perspective is unwise, but we’re seeing enough to suggest that he’s right in his groove. He racked up 101 yards against Atlanta last time out and he has now hit the over in three of his last four games.

Perhaps more pertinently, he’s facing a Pittsburgh defense that leaves plenty to be desired against the rush. Only four teams have a worse running defense than the Steelers, who have only held one opponent under 100 rushing yards this season, and if they’re still missing Cam Heyward or Fitzpatrick, Henry could have a field day. BetMGM’s -111 was the best value available at the time of writing.
