The White Sells won the game 2-1. They haven't faced the Cubs in a Fall Classic since 1906. This was only the second World Championship to be played in the same city.
The Chicago White Sox lost the World Series to Cincinnati in 1919. Lefty Williams was in on the fix and retired just one batter in a 10-5 Reds rout. The questions surrounding the Series would linger for a year before exploding into the Black Sox scandal.
Today is October 9. 1993. Chicago White Sox won the ALCS against Toronto 7-4 in Game 4. Toronto won Game 5 and Game 6. Toronto beat Jack McDowell and Alex Fernandez four times and lost all the other games.
