Trainer and owner team for two stakes wins in Hungary

The team of harness racing trainer Bernadett Balogh and owner Prolongo III teamed up for two stakes wins today (Oct. 14) at Kincsem Park in Hungary, one with driver Imre Fazekas.

In the Utoe Nagydij (purse 2,000,000Huf, 1900 meters autostart, sox three-year olds trotters) it was the 1.5/1 Enjoy (3m Maharajah-Journey Boko-Zola Boko) that posted a 1.16.3kr impressive win as Imre Fazekas teamed the Balogh trained and Prolongo III owned colt to his fourth win in nine outings. The 11.5/1 Ejjeli Hulgy (3f Maximus Lindy-Night Lady-Tony Oaks) was a solid second with Gyorgy Horvath driving for the Balogh/Prolongo III duo. The 3.4/1 Eternal Flame (3m Maximus Lindy-Rubin Lady-Wall Street Banker) landed third with Jose Sagaj at the lines.

In the Romi MMS DIJ (purse 700,000Huf, 1800 meters autostart, nine starters) the 4.8/1 odds Catania R (5g One Too Many-Campala RAL-Toss Out) scored in 1.14.2kr on the front from post five with Marko Slavic driving for trainer Mitja Slavic. They raced the race namesake successfully in eastern Europe and in France. Coach Degli Dei (5f Brillantissime-Un Foi Axe-Love You) rallied late to be second for trainer/driver Goran Zolnaji at 3.9/1 odds. Viper (5g Atlas de Joudes-Vivian Buster-Oscar Schindler SI) took third at 2.7/1 with Christophe Schwarz driving. The 8.7/1 Palace Bo (4m Muscle Hill-Jasmine-Abano As) took fourth money with Imre Fazekas driving for Bernadett Balogh.

Back to the youngsters with the Ketevesek Nagydija (purse 3,000,000Huf, 1800 meters autostart, eight starters) and 2.4/1 Fantastic Love (2f Nuncio-Eliane Merite-Tomoko) scored  from post two timed in 1.18.9kr with trainer Bernadett Balogh driving for Prolongo III. This was her second win in 2023 in three starts.

Friday Night (2m Tuonoblu Rex-Sultana Jet-Igor Font) was second at 3.8/1 with Christophe Schwarz driving for trainer Robert Gramuller. This one’s sire raced successfully in the USA and FFA trots and the dam raced very successfully at Kincsem Park for Gyorgy Horvath and Andrea Fazekas Finishing third was the 1.8/1 favorite Fabrice (2m Maximus Lindy-Noraville-Tony Oaks) handled by Imre Fazekas for the Balogh/Prolongo III team. The race time was a new record for the event surpassing the 1.19.8kr by Undercover and Diamond Ville.

The top aged trotters contested the Koztarsasaji DIJ (purse 2,000,000Huf, 2400 meters autostart, seven starters) with the 1.9.1 odds favorite Maugli (7g El Nino-Marssha B-Vita-Zerberus) dominated his rivals for a 1.15.2kr timed victory. He now has eight wins in 18 starts in HU. Joze Sagaj teamed the Janko Sagaj trainee.

Bonaparte Boss (6g Napoleon-Nikita-Crown Sweep) was a distant second for trainer/driver Veljko Mazsity at 14/1 with 12.8/1 Cardenas Baba (5f From Above-Ulan Bator Baba-Love You) securing third for trainer/driver Goran Zolnaji. Maugli holds the stake record of 1.14.9kr.
