Trainers to watch at Fair Grounds
Tom Amoss has won six leading trainer titles at the Fair Grounds. He has one of the largest and deepest stables on the grounds.
Brad Cox won four consecutive leading trainer titles from 2016 to 2020. Essential Quality and Caravel won the Breeders Cup Turf Sprint at 42-1 odds.
Steve Asmussen is the sport's winningest trainer. He has won 10 leading trainer titles since 2000. His colt Extra Anejo is a contender in the Fair Grounds Oaks and Louisiana Derby trails.
Ken McPeek has 28 stalls at the Fair Grounds this year. McPek is always a factor on the Kentucky Derby trail. Hayes Strike and Ten Days Later are among the contenders this time.
John Ortiz has 15 stalls at the Fair Grounds. Ortiz started training six years ago and is considered one of the top trainers in the nation.
