Travers 2018: Date, Post Positions, Saratoga Betting Odds, Prize-Money Purse

The 149th running of the Travers Stakes takes place at Saratoga Race Course on Saturday. There are 11 contenders for the $1.25 million prize. Triple Crown winner Justify will not be present at the race due to an ankle problem. Good Magic is the favourite to win the prestigious race. Wonder Gadot will be the first filly to run the Stake since Davona Dale in 1979.

Good Magic is the favorite to win the race on Saturday. Good Magic won the Haskell Invitational by three lengths at Monmouth Park in Oceanport, New Jersey. Gronkowski finished second to Justify at the 2018 Belmont Stakes.

Wonder Gadot has already won two legs of the Canadian Triple Crown this year. She took victory at the Prince of Wales Stakes in Fort Erie and at Queen's Plate race in Toronto.

Wonder Gadot gallops on Saratoga's main track two days before she attempts to become the first filly in more than 100 years to beat the boys in the Travers.

Jockey John Velazquez said she deserves her place at Saratoga. The rest of the field also boasts plenty of quality. Mendlessohn won the 2018 UAE Derby in March. Tenfold beat Good Magic at Preakness. Catholic Boy has won on the grass at the Grade 3 Pennine Ridge at Belmont and the Belmonte Derby.

John Velazquez will ride Vino Rosso instead of Wonder Gadot in the Travers.
