TREVIN GILES VS GABRIEL BONFIM LOWDOWN

Gabriel Bonfim’s (14-0) entrance to the UFC could not have gone any better. He was coming off a brilliant submission win over Trey Waters (2022) on the Contender Series and had a tough debut in Mounir Lazzez (2023) at UFC 283. He proceeded to submit him in the first minute to extend his unbeaten run of finishes (three knockouts and 11 submissions).

Now, he takes on Trevin Giles (16-4) who has not been the most consistent but is coming off two wins. He was desperate for a dub after getting knocked out by Dricus du Plessis (2021) and Michael Morales (2022) and responded with decision wins over Louis Cosce (2022) and Preston Parsons (2023) to take his UFC tally to 7-4.

TREVIN GILES VS GABRIEL BONFIM PREDICTION

Bonfim struts into Salt Lake City as the heavy favourite protecting his perfect record. He is an experienced boxer with beastly jiu-jitsu. He has the ability to hurt Giles on the feet and if the fight goes to the floor, he will back himself to cinch up a submission.

However, Giles is arguably the toughest fight of his career so far. He is very well-rounded with strong defensive grappling and solid striking. His jab in particular is money and it will be a problem for Bonfim all the time they are standing..

His experience will also be important as Bonfim arrives with a ton of hype at high altitude. Giles is the value pick, but the Brazilian looks like the real deal and we feel his grappling will get the job done.

Prediction: Bonfim via Submission
