Week 1 of the college football season is here. Four games are on CBS Sports Network. UAB starts the action Thursday night against Alabama A&M. Saturday's triple-header starts at noon with Delaware and Navy. The final two games involve four Texas teams coming off bowl appearances. At 3:30 p.m., Houston travels to play Conference USA favorite UTSA. North Texas and SMU will play for the ninth consecutive season.

UAB has won five straight seasons since restarting its program for the 2017 season. Bill Clark retired in June. Offensive coordinator Bryan Vincent is serving as the interim coach for 2022 season, and the Blazers were picked to finish second in the Conference USA preseason media poll. Alabama A&M is coming off a 6-5 season and has posted a winning record in all four seasons under coach Connell Maynor.

Navy is 7-15 over the past two seasons. Delaware finished 5-6 last season. The Blue Hens upset Navy 59-52 back in 2007.

UAB and Alabama A&M are playing in their final season in Conference USA before moving to more prestigious leagues in 2023. Houston narrowly edged Cincinnati and UCF in the AAC media poll and UTSA edged UAB as the ConferenceUSA favorite.

This will be the ninth consecutive year that SMU and North Texas have played. NorthTexas has won both of the games since the renewal of their series in 2014. SMu has lost three straight games and has a new head coach in Rhett Lashlee. Both teams are picked to finish in the top half of conferences.
