UConn vs. NC State prediction: College football Week 1 odds, pick

It’s the first Thursday of college football with some interesting matchups on the slate.

One game is North Carolina State taking on a revitalized UConn program, with the Wolfpack laying two touchdowns on the road.

I’m high on UConn for the upcoming season and feel the Huskies are undervalued in the betting market.

I took over UConn 4.5 wins and while they may not get the victory Thursday night, the Huskies should be able to keep the game within two touchdowns.

UConn has 17 starters returning from last year’s squad that finished a surprising 6-7 and made a bowl game.

Jim Mora Jr. has done a good job of recruiting talent to UConn in his two seasons as head coach and this is the deepest Huskies team on both sides of the ball in years.

The X factor for UConn is new starting quarterback Joe Fagnano.

The Maine transfer spent three years in offensive coordinator Nick Charlton’s system and he should help ignite an offense that averaged just 112 passing yards per game last season.

Betting on College Football?

NC State should be a contender in the ACC but the Wolfpack are replacing six starters on a defense that allowed just 19.2 points per game in 2022.

They also swapped Devin Leary for former Virginia star Brennan Armstrong at quarterback.

NC State has the pieces to surprise in the ACC but laying 14 points on the road in Game 1 is a bit much.
