Unlucky husband and wife were diagnosed with same cancer at odds of million-to-one

Anne and John Robertson were both diagnosed with kidney cancer. Consultant urology surgeon Gren Oades saved their lives. They are nominated for a Scottish Health Award. They believe they are the only couple in Scotland to have been treated for the same cancer in such a short space of time. The odds against them being diagnosed were one million to one. Anne had a kidney removed in 2008 and a year later John was diagnosed. He had an identical procedure in May this year. Mr Oade called Anne from his home to check on her. John and Anne are grateful to him. "He saved our lives," Anne says.
