U.S. Open up for grabs after surprising year in women's tennis
The U.S. Open is the final Grand Slam of the year. Ash Barty retired in January and Serena Williams will join her. Iga Swiatek rose to number one in March and won her second French Open title in June. Madison Keys beat world number 1 Igia Swiatesk at the Cincinnati Open. The American is a finalist at last year's US Open and has a good chance to go deep again this year at New York.
Naomi Osaka is a double U.S. Open champion. Emma Raducanu won a major last year. Caroline Garcia of France, Simona Halep and Aryna Sabalenka are also contenders. Serena Williams is retiring after the U.,S Open. The tournament starts on August 29.
