USC coach Lincoln Riley defends keeping Alex Grinch

Lincoln Riley has decided to keep Alex Grinch as defensive coordinator despite a disappointing season for the USC defense. The team's defense allowed nearly 2,000 yards over its final four games. It was dominated by Utah in the Pac-12 Conference title game and then by Tulane in Cotton Bowl. Grinches' team will be without its top defensive lineman and cornerback for next season. It will also be playing without two of its best defenders. They have added five transfers on defense, including All-Big 12 linebacker Mason Cobb from Oklahoma State.
